High-quality history learning games are no stranger to the Filament Games blog, and Pharaoh: A New Era is no exception! This game is actually a remake of a beloved 20-year-old classic city-builder by Sierra Entertainment. To celebrate two decades of the game, the creators at Triskell Interactive revived the game with all-new 4K HD graphics, updated UI, and over 50 playable missions, allowing players to explore 4,000 years of history in Ancient Egypt through play. Pharaoh: A New Era is planned to release in Q1 of this year, and you can wishlist it on Steam today so you don’t miss when an official release date is announced.
You may have noticed that here at Filament, we have a soft spot for cute robots. In Transitional Forms’ Little Learning Machines, players can learn about artificial intelligence and machine learning as they teach little machines to thrive on a cozy island. Part learning game, part life sim, this game introduces players to reinforcement learning concepts in the cutest way possible. The game is set to release in Q2 of this year, and you can follow Little Learning Machines’ Steam page to stay up to date.
To longtime readers of the blog, it will come as no surprise that we’re interested in learning games about conservation and the environment. If you are too, we have just the 2023 release for you. In Nero’s Adventure, players become Nero, a mutant anglerfish able to survive in the toxic wasteland he calls home. The game includes all sorts of physics-based puzzles to sharpen a player’s mind, but it also allows them to see the impact of pollution and garbage on marine life and the ocean at large. As players help Nero tidy up his home, they will see firsthand why it is important to keep the sea sparkling clean! You’ll have to wait a little bit to get your hands on this game, as Nero’s Adventure is going to be released in Q4 of this year. We’re sure it will be worth the wait! Learn more by checking out this game’s official Steam page.
Last but certainly not least, we’re highly anticipating our VR release of RoboCo, which is coming to the Meta Quest 2 later this year! In this version of the game, players will be able to enjoy building robots, solving challenges, and causing a little bit of havoc in the RoboCo warehouse as if they were standing or sitting right next to their robot. With RoboCo VR, players can get as close as possible to the tactile experience of creating and customizing robots without a robotics kit! Be sure to keep up with the official RoboCo Steam page and devblog so you can be the first to know when the VR version drops!
